Comment Bingo Rules and Guidelines

Rules and Guidelines:

You must be 18+ to join.

To request a card, leave a comment on the Sign-Up post with your username, preferably the one that you will be commenting using.

You will receive a 5x5 Bingo Card with various prompts listed in each square

You can opt out of up to 5 prompts. If you don't read works from challenges, you can say I don't want anything 'challenge works from x year' prompts and that will count as one. As long as I can get you to 25 (with a free space), you're good to go.

The prompt list can be found HERE.

You must have individual fills, meaning each fic can only be used once, even if it works for multiple prompts.

There aren't any requirements for comments, unless countered by the prompt: just remember to be kind and don't leave hateful comments. Unless constructive criticism is specifically asked for by the creator, please don't do that either.

Do not send hate to fics that others have linked or the person linking them. Should you have an issue with another member, please come to the mod. People who create drama will be banned.

All fandoms/ships (platonic or romantic) are eligible! You can comment on AO3, YouTube, Tumblr, Dreamwidth or wherever your fanwork of choice is located.

There will be specific mediums listed in certain squares, but for the prompts that are not, you may comment on any type of medium.

The free space square means you can comment on whatever you would like

A list of communities that hold challenges/have exchanges is HERE.

A completed bingo consists of finishing at least one line- horizontal, diagonal, or vertical. Getting a blackout means completing the entire card.

Please make sure to link to the fics you've been reading.

Once You're Done:

Please make a post with your completed card on the community. Complete only, please do not go prompt by prompt!

Thank you! I started out strong and then kind of faded away in completing the comm, which is why the links don't work. That's also why there isn't a sign-up page yet. I'm hoping to get back to it soon! I'm aiming for Mid May-June to begin the first round. :D

Is it possible to opt out of challenge works from some years but not others? Like, I know there were Miraculous Ladybug fandom challenges in 2017 and have been every year since, not sure about 2016, almost positive not 2015 and that's the year the show premiered, so I'd be cool with getting that bingo square for 2017 forward but not earlier.

If the opt out is all or nothing, I'm sure there's stuff in previous Yuletides I would like to read that I haven't already commented on, but I'd really rather stick to my main fandom for this. 🙂

Sure, you can do that. There is a broad 'challenge before 2010', and then it goes year by year so if you want to sign-up, just leave a reminder that you don't want any challenge prompts before 2017.

I've started on my card, and realized that a lot of prompts could be filled by the same thing. I don't really consider that in the spirit of the challenge, though, so... I thought you might like to clarify that in the rules, maybe?

No fic may be counted for more than one square. Right?

Thank you for participating! This isn't the claim post- I haven't put up one yet, because I decided I would do it closer to the end of the round, but congrats on completing your card! Keep an eye out for the banner post around mid-end of August. :D

Just to check - can you get multiple bingos off the same card?

For example, could I have one vertical line and one diagonal line on the same card, with 2 works that both meet the prompt for the square that would appear in both lines? (10 separate works total, 2 lines of 5 works).

It isn't something I've considered, but I don't see why not, since you're using two works for one prompt rather than one prompt to fill two lines. :D
