Life has been busy orz. I got sick and then I got hit with a migraine. I'm doing better now but it's looking like we're going to get another foot of snow (or more) Sunday into Monday. Godddddddddd, I'm over it. Work has been crazy due to logistical reasons outside our control - the glamour of being a contractor lol.

Nice Things: spent Valentine's day driving up to Kam Nam and H Mart in MA, bought a lot of wonderful groceries and ate good food with my wife and our friend (I affectionately refer to us hanging out as our throuple time lol.)

I took the time to learn how to navigate the PostCrossing forums and joined some tags and round robins, already mailed some stuff out. Sending and receiving mail has become my happy place as of late c:

I have read SO MUCH Heated Rivalry fanfiction. The mistaken identity Jane(+/)Lily fics have been especially delightful <3_<3

Otherwise I finished working on my Stuff I Love: Top Ten Edition Challenge 2. Here it is in all its fashionably late glory /o/

I didn't expect to be talking about HNDR fangames so soon; but another amazing creation has hit ao3. And we have hit the motherload:

Romance Route DLC by jihnari, for html-tryhards

The power of the visual novel compels you... to make a dating sim spin-off.

This is all html. I don't know how they made this on ao3. I've seen skins created to mimic twitter, discord, iphone messages, emails... Nothing like this. I'm stumped. How did they do this. I'm so scared. I thought at first it was a Renpy iframe embed but no... no.... this is true power. For yaoi.

Non-spoiler standouts:
  • IT'S FUNNY..!! Everyone's reactions (espcially Takumis) to the unfolding events fits right into the Romance route. Every character that appears has a strong voice, and very strong emotions. :).

  • Kyoshika...! She is the best chaos agent!!

  • They captured Takumi's oblivious teenage boy cruelty. I was cackling at some of his lines! Takumi!! You're your own worst enemy!!

  • Below the cuts are my thoughts, but please play it yourself! It's about an hour in total, and it has skip features to get right back into the branching paths. How did they make this. I'm scared.

I do recommend turning off any custom ao3 skins you have on for this, and play on tablet or desktop.

    Yugamu Route // Spoilers! )

    Eito Route // Spoilers )

I was recently watching a video on Persona 5 mods... can we get that. Can we get the lads who know how to code in on this. Can we please put the 3D HNDR models in maid outfits.

Play it here yourself, and don't forget... honesty is the best policy :3

When you picture yourself 10 years from now, what do you want to have achieved and experienced?

Ten years from now, I'll be 84. I can hope that I'm still writing fanfic, but I might not be. You never know how your life is going to turn out. Also, people pass away all the time. You don't know what's in store for yourself.

Second part of the question. I have achieved many things in my life, so I believe I passed with flying colors.

    How about all of you?

Things I Like About Myself (I'm early again)

I like many things about myself. I'll try and list them here:

    1. I'm a good wife.
    2. I'm a good mom.
    3. I'm a great grandmother.
    4. I'm kind.
    5. I'm a good listener.
    6. I'm understanding.
    7. I'm loyal.

I'm boring myself. Sorry folks. Visions of doing the Snowflake Community again.

    21. When was the last time you heard music played live (at a concert, in a musical)?

Oh my gosh, it's been years. We heard Jim Croce sing before he died. I saw Paul Revere and the Raiders in 1969. That's it. I wish I had a big list, but I don't.

    How about you?

The most exciting things that happened today is my knee is sad and I can't find my brace.

And I found out how much of a difference Kerry Gold makes when you're making a butter-based sauce. It transformed my alfredo sauce. So damn good. Worth the expenseif you're going to do something butter forward.

And here are the fannish recs. Nothing from me. I've been stuck on my Hazbin WIP and finally edited a chapter that's been sitting on my to-do stuff and it's been a chapter I posted over a month ago...fantastic. How did I fuck that up and how has it been a month since I posted (oh right 3 sentence ficathon and half a moon, fun but diverting.)

I'm also trying to decide if I start a new novel or combine it with an idea I already have.

Wow, it is DUMPING down snow out there! It's been so warm, in the high fifties and into the sixties, but now it's snowing heavily, we're being urged not to go anywhere if we don't have to, and we are looking at maybe having nine inches by morning. I'm no snow expert, given my Southern Californian origins, but I feel like that's a fair bit.

Still trying to watch as much of the Olympics as I have time for, though Peacock is really pissing me off by regularly pulling events down only after a few days, sometimes right as I'm in the middle of watching them. I heard it has something to do with music copyright, but like? It's the Olympics, and you're a major network, you can figure out how to do this? It's incredibly frustrating, having to hunt down each individual pair's free skate on youtube when they're all sliced up and in terrible quality!

Still, I'm trying to enjoy it (I am enjoying it) even though I'm always behind and constantly being spoiled because if I know which teams are playing in the next game then I obviously know who won the last one and don't need to watch it now, do I?

Our fish, Kyber, got sick. His fins were all torn and in some places missing altogether, and while I don't know for certain if he was self-mutilating or if he's got fin rot, I responded by buying him an entirely new tank as well as new, very soft decor and some real live Indian almond leaves that are supposed to have wonderful anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, as well as provide shelter, entertainment, and a more natural hue of water for the little guys. He seems happier, more energetic, and brighter in color since we made the changes a few nights ago.

I took Velma in to a local groomer to get her nails trimmed today, and another customer there had a Xoloitzcuintle, which was very cool because it's somewhat of a rare breed (at least here) and I'd never seen one in person before.

Although I'm feeling very burned out by the stress and anxiety I experienced over writing my piece for Fandom Trumps Hate, I've found some inspiration in the Olympics and I think there might be something I'd like to write for me, which is almost unheard of. I grew up in the world of ice sports (my mother was a competitive figure skater when she was younger, and later, a coach; I spent many a summer in the rink around figure skaters and hockey players), so it's something I definitely know pretty intimately. Could be fun. I guess we'll see!

    Finding old fic snippets

I remembered an old fic snippet from yonks ago, a terrible BNHA fic called Plucking that I apparently already mentioned over 2 years ago hah. This used to be a stress relief fic in which Hawks endures a no good very bad time anytime I was having a rough time. In 2023 I was apparently staging a rescue for him since I felt better, but looking at the end it looks like that might have been an hallucination, whoops. I wrote "Post anon?" in the notes because I guess it is extremely heavy on whump and angst but heh.

Anyway, it didn't seem like it had been migrated when I moved to Scrivener so I went back hunting into my 4tw files. And wow I found some other stuff that also missed the migration. Mostly written 2022-2023 if I believe my tracking spreadsheet haha. See, when I started writing I had a directory per fandom which made sense in theory, except that then I wrote like 200 fics for BNHA including several multi-chapters, and 2-10 fics for other fandoms. Things got better organised in 2024, apparently (or more like I gave up and created a new directory called BNHA (2024)), and I was good at migrating existing WIPs into BNHA (2025) when the year changed but some stuff got lost in the pre-2024 reshuffle. Several seem like 60-90% finished :0

I checked other fandoms too and found maybe one or two mostly developed concepts for Mairimashita Iruma-kun which I haven't written for since 2021 and it's making me a bit nostalgic... I think I never ended up writing up a post about it, but this was a fandom I tried the "Save The Cat" outlining method for and it utterly broke my brain and the story. Beat sheets don't work well with how I think, it seems. BUT this also reminds me I should have handwritten notes for that full outline and I wonder if I could try to revive that story, too... Like it was a fake dating OT3 and I don't know how I tried to make fake dating work for 3 people!! Maybe I can salvage the heart of it and do something with it? I haven't watched the canon in years either, apparently I stopped watching the anime in the middle of season 2... but that also kinda makes me want to catch up!! Especially since the official Mafia AU also made me nostalgic for the original characters recently. Although I seem to have paused my manga reading for that as well. I think it might be common for me to kind of drift off with "episodic"-style series, but hey maybe that means it shouldn't be too hard to pick back up either.

Anyway I find myself with more ongoing WIPs than I expected!! I think it'd be cool to slap an ending on the ones that have a good chunk written already. There's a couple that are so nearly there for BNHA that I had to check if I didn't somehow post them without remembering, despite the unfinished sentences and couple of bits with brackets lol. [ first kiss description here ].

I don't like mayo at all. I use cream cheese for sandwiches. I love sandwiches like that. This one was short and sweet. I think I'll post another recipe tonight. Do you all prefer dinner or dessert recipes?

    1. What distracts you from what’s truly important each day?

I can't think of anything that is truly important daily. Like today it's our anniversary, so we're going out for dinner. I'm not going to get distracted. There's my answer. If it's important, I won't be distracted. I'll see if the next one is better.

    2. If you decided right now that you had enough money, and that you would always have enough, what would you do with your life?

We might travel more. Fly first class. It's on my bucket list. I guess my life wouldn't change that much.

    Things I'm Good At:

    1. I love to cook and I honestly think I'm good at it. I'm also good at baking. My older grandchildren call me and set up weekend visits and stay for dinner. They all have their favorites and ask for that.

    2. I'm a great Grandmother. I adore these kids. We raised two of our grandchildren and adopted them. I'm also a good mom. I made some mistakes, believe me. But no one could love them more.

    3. Being married. It wasn't always grand, but we hung in there. He is my best friend.

    4. My pup loves me. She has separation anxiety, so we take her with us a lot. She's very sweet.

    5. I wish I could say my home is spotless, but I can't. But it's always picked up.

Mostly because I am out of communities to rec.

I am thankful tonight wasn't worse. It was scary. I was walking out of the kitchen with a full glass of water. My bad knee buckled. I caught myself before I was all the way down. The water nearly hit my laptop. It's okay. I'm okay. The knee and ankle are swelling. Not happy about this. I wanted to hike this weekend. I had even talked to the wildlife prof and she said I can go with her when she's free (I'm not really able to go alone.)

This makes me very sad. I can't get this leg stronger but I have hope. Yes I do.

Because you know why? I think I said it yesterday but it bears repeating. My water aerobics class is a go. Send up a little well wish for me that I don't hurt myself. But this is my third initiative that has gone through at work and I'm proud of myself.

I'm also thankful that for once MOST of the students I contacted about not passing actually contacted me for help. I want so much to see this. I might not be able to help them but we can try. One's mother (a coworker) reached out too to tell me how upset her child was and how nervous they were to come talk to me. I reached out and we talked and I think that it will help.
